AgapeChristianAcademy NEWSLETTER
November/December, 2008
Excellence is our standard … nothing less is acceptable!
AgapeChristianAcademy is fully accredited by the International Christian Accrediting Association |
The Holiday Season is fast approaching - a time to spend with family and friends and reflect on the many blessing our Lord Jesus has provided. The staff and I extend heart-felt prayers that this year will be a year of renewal and blessings. Also, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give Mrs. Bobbitt or me a call.
Notes to Parents of Juniors
Juniors will be taking the ACT/MME in March. Each junior student in Michigan is given the opportunity to take the MME once to qualify for the Michigan Promise scholarship monies. To receive the scholarship, students must score a Level 1 or 2 on all parts of the test and have an ACT composite score of 25. If you have questions, please call Mr. Chrenko or Mrs. Bobbitt. More information may also be found on the website: www.michigan.gov/mme.
Please watch your balance…
The Academy has been experiencing many returned direct debits and checks for insufficient funds. Direct debits are only processed once, but our bank is kind enough to process a check twice in order for it to clear. Returned items also incur a bank fee on our account, which unfortunately we have to pass on to you by charging you $40 for insufficient funds. As with most small businesses these days, and especially private schools, our budget is tight. When direct debits or checks are returned, it can make for a difficult situation. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

NOTES TO PARENTS
Elementary School Sweaters
As with all businesses, Schoolbelles made some cuts to our uniform catalog and one was the elementary navy sweater. We have recently had two parents interested in getting the sweaters. If we were to have 12 families interested in ordering, we can do a special order. If you would like to have the elementary sweater, please see, call or e-mail Mrs. Comer.
One Warm Coat Drive and BoxTops for Education
Thank you to everyone that helped to make these fundraisers a success. We were able to donate many coats to the Burlington Coat Factory drive and received numerous box tops! Thank you.
TonerFundraisers
Preferred Toner Solutions has introducted our new TonerFundraisers Program. The owners of the company believe in Christian Education and have implemented this program to benefit Christian organizations like ours. It is a Michigan based company with the product being manufactured in Michigan. Flyers are being handed out at Parent/Teacher conferences. If you missed the information, please stop by the office. If each family would pass this on to people and businesses they know that use laser cartridges, those persons and businesses will be blessed with the product and the discount. In turn, the Academy and students will be blessed.
U of M Football Concession
This year's last Michigan football game is November 15. It has been a great season with lots of wonderful weather. If you have not been out to a game, please sign up with Mrs. Miller. We have been blessed by the amount of support and want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Miller for undertaking this project. Thank you to Mrs. Kroenke and Mr. De Witt for their help. And a thank you to everyone who has assisted them. You have made a difference!J
Operation Christmas Child
For several years, ACA students have participated in Operation Christmas Child, a mission project of Samaritan's Purse. Our goal is at least one gift-filled shoebox per student. In previous years we have donated over 150 boxes to this ministry. The boxes are due to the Academy by Wednesday, November 19. Miss Lindsay is coordinating the program and will answer any questions.
Election Day
Tuesday, November 4, there will be no school. The Presidential Election will be held at the school as one of the Canton Township precincts. Don't forget to vote this day. It is a very special priviledge to be able to vote.
Sports Practices
In October, Pastor Mark wrote to families regarding the need for assistance with paying for the facilities charges for the high school basketball teams to practice in a full size gym. We have had many generous parents in the past assist and hope that this year will be no different. If you are able to donate, please come by or call the office. Thank you.
